Die erste Kirche wurde im 13. Jahrhundert errichtet. Sie wurde im Laufe der Zeit ausgebaut. Die Stadtpfarrkirche ist seit 1945 eine Ruine, seit 2019 erfolgt der schrittweise Wiederaufbau.
